On Friday, 9th October 2020, we will celebrate the feast day of St. John Henry Newman, newly canonised by Pope Francis last year. Speaking of ‘everyday holiness’, the Holy Father quotes the Cardinal, who wrote:

“The Christian has a deep, silent, hidden peace, which the world sees not… The Christian is cheerful, easy, kind, gentle, courteous, candid, unassuming; has no pretence… with so little that is unusual or striking in his bearing, that  he may easily be taken at first sight for an ordinary man”

To prepare for the feast day, we will be praying the Novena to St. John Henry Newman in the days leading up to the feast. The text of the Novena can be found by clicking the link below. The novena will be prayed at 9:00am each morning, from the shrine of St. John Henry Newman inside the Cathedral. Let us seek his intercession and protection.
