On Monday, 19th October, the First Minister for Wales announced a two-week ‘circuit-break’ lockdown to begin on Friday, 23rd October at 6:00pm. As well as closing many shops, restaurants, and other leisure facilities, the lockdown will also impact churches and places of worship – including the Cathedral. The celebration of Mass on Friday at 10:00am will be the last public celebration of Mass at the Cathedral until Monday, 9th November.
To prepare for the lockdown, the schedule for the Cathedral for Friday afternoon has been changed to include the following:
12:00pm – 2:00pm – The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available in the Mostyn Room (access via the Courtyard)
The Cathedral will be open for private prayer between 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
4:00pm – 4:45pm – The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available in the Mostyn Room (access via the Courtyard)
5:00pm – Holy Hour – including prayers for an end to the global pandemic.
5:30pm – Adoration concludes with Sung Evening Prayer (Vespers) and Benediction, beginning at 5:30pm.
Please note: The Holy Hour will be live-streamed only.
As we prepare to enter lockdown, let us continue to pray for Wales:
Almighty God, Who in Thine infinite goodness has sent Thine only-begotten Son into this world to open once more the gates of heaven, and to teach us how to know, love and serve Thee, have mercy on Thy people Who dwell in Wales. Grant to them the precious gift of faith, and unite them in the one true Church founded by Thy Divine Son; that, acknowledging her authority and obeying her voice, they may serve Thee, love Thee, and worship Thee as Thou desirest in this world, and obtain for themselves everlasting happiness in the world to come. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Lady, Help of Christians, pray for Wales.
Saint David, pray for Wales.
Saint Winefride, pray for Wales.
